During my life, I have had a number of businesses. One of which that I'm involved in, although less than in the past, is personal management. Basically representing actors/actresses, models, singers...performers.
About 10 years ago, 2 girls who worked for me as event models and hostesses asked me if I could help them get into pornography. I knew of some people and by chance had recently been to a party, held by a man who owned a studio. Lisa and Bailey were keen to take an opportunity to earn some significant money and were both comfortable with sex and using their bodies.
Now, at that time, I was uncomfortable with working in this area and I agreed to make introductions and help, but I didn't want this to be a business arrangement and instead, I helped them for no fee. Anyway, introductions were made and within a short time, both girls had done various work within England and were booked to travel to USA for a 2 week test period.
At the end of 2 weeks, I received a call from both girls, Bailey was back in the UK, having realised that this wasn't a career she could manage. While Lisa was planning to stay for a further 6 weeks (in fact it was over 5 years before she returned to England), Bailey realised that performing on camera was a chore that affected her interest in sex and she felt uncomfortable being scheduled to have various sex acts during a day, with little interest from the production team on how she was feeling emotionally.
Fortunately, Bailey was with a respectable company (or at least as respectable as you can get within this industry). So she never felt that she couldn't refuse, or was trapped...but as we know, this isn't always the case for women. As for Lisa, she now lives full time in USA and is married to a producer of adult films. She is retired, but occasionally goes back on camera if she wishes.
Since that time, I have occasionally provided models or performers for adult shoots, or films. Recently, I was approached by a large adult film production company in Europe, who have asked if I can help them find performers, with the increase in women in England from Eastern Europe. For the first time in a while, I feel a little uncomfortable, but remind myself that for these women, often this is a dream or ambition...not something they are forced to do.
Now, my question is...should I remain concerned about working with companies within the adult industry? Or alternatively, should I be pleased to help women achieve their ambitions and on some occasions, significant wealth?
Pornography...is this just fun, or am I putting woman at risk?
Quick note, in the 10 years I have worked in this area, no woman has ever told me they felt in danger or forced to do anything they didn't want. They have told me stories of other occasions with other companies, but my personal experiences have always been safe.
